OnePlus denies rumors of refurbished One models being sold as new ones

The OnePlus One has encountered various hurdles along the way and even after so long, nothing much has changed. The latest issues being faced by the company are allegations of its selling refurbished units of its flagship killer handset as new.

Several customers have filed complaints that they’ve received used or refurbished OnePlus One units. The company has taken to its forums to address these issues which, of course, it claims to be untrue. The post notes that an extensive investigation has been started and the OEM has also provided possible causes for each reported complaint.

One customer found a deleted image on the handset which was apparently taken by someone in France and apparently not from the phone in question. It’s still unknown how the picture landed up on the smartphone and the company has no explanation either. It does note that the device was manufactured on July 14 and sold on the 20th, while the complaint claims the device to have been refurbished 4 days later which isn’t possible.

In a second case, the phone arrived unsealed and the packaging was tampered. OnePlus states that this could have happened after being dispatched from its warehouse and is looking into the matter. Another user reported that his smartphone was delivered with the OS completely set up which has been attributed to a software glitch. Other complaints include phones with 2 dual layers of screen protectors, dust and scratches on the device and more.

Quick look at the OnePlus One specs:

– Android 4.4 KitKat
– 2.5GHz quad core processor
– 3GB RAM, 16GB/64GB internal storage
– 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS LCD
– Corning Gorilla Glass 3
– 13MP rear camera, 5MP front snapper
– 3100mAh battery

On a closing note, the company has also provided proof that the OnePlus One comes with Gorilla Glass 3 to address concerns of the phone not listed on Corning’s website.
