You won’t have to beg for an invite in order to lay hands on the OnePlus One, since the company has announced open sales for the smartphone from now on. Well, it was good while it lasted considering that the exclusivity of the invite-based system drummed up a lot of publicity for the handset. After all, who doesn’t want what they can’t have?
The OnePlus One is not the only device to have suddenly stopped playing hard to get. Xiaomi recently announced that it would start selling its products on Amazon and Snapdeal too, instead of restricting itself to Flipkart. Of course, the latter’s decision may have to do with Flipkart’s suicidal decision to go the Myntra route and become mobile app-only within a year.
Here’s the Amazon link which is offering the OnePlus handset for grabs without an invite. It is available in two color choices of white and black, each having different textures on the exterior. The ‘sandstone black’ smartphone has a very rough back panel and it comes with 64GB onboard storage. You get 16GB of internal memory and a ‘silk-like’ finish with the white version.

Until April 23, Amazon will also be bundling the OnePlus One with a 50 percent discount on JBL E1+ earphones, a white flip cover and a matte screen protector. Buyers can avail of only one of these offers on the accessories per purchase. Even though the open sales model has been adopted, the maximum number of units that can be bought is restricted to 3 per customer.
