Great news for those eager to buy the upcoming OnePlus 2; the device has been announced to have been equipped by its makers with 4GB worth of RAM and that too, of the LPDDR4 type. The ZenFone 2 from Asus has the same amount of memory, but it’s still of the LPDDR3 nature.
Right now smartphones like the LG G Flex 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 are the only ones using LPDDR4 RAMs and even they have their memories locked at 3GB. This will set the OnePlus 2 apart in more ways than one, but what sort of a difference does the LPDDR4 technology actually make?
In simple language, it will translate into faster loading times, smoother gameplay and efficient power consumption. According to OnePlus, it is capable of reaching speeds of up to 32GB/s, making it twice as fast as LPDDR3 modules.
We already know that the OnePlus 2 will carry onboard a Snapdragon 810 chipset. Combining the power of this SoC with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM will indeed translate into an incredibly powerful smartphone.
And that’s not all; we’ve also been told that the device will ship with a fingerprint scanner. While details about its display size and resolution are not known at the moment, we do know that it will be fitted with a USB Type-C port.

Recently, the CEO of OnePlus made it clear that the upcoming smartphone will be sold at a price that will fall below $450. The exact retail value is still unclear, but those who were wishing that it will be made available at the same amount as that of the OnePlus One ($299) will be disappointed.
July 27 is the date on which the new OnePlus 2 will be unveiled for the first time; so stay tuned until then.
