OnePlus 2 to soon receive VoLTE support

OnePlus India has announced that it will soon roll out VoLTE support via an OTA update to OnePlus 2 users. The decision apparently has been made after the company received several requests from customers to enable HD calling support on its smartphones. The update will be available from the next quarter of 2016.

OnePlus India is teaming up with its telecom partners for improving network support on all its devices. While the OnePlus 2 will soon be enabled with high definition calling, its higher-end cousin already offers VoLTE connectivity out of the box.

This leaves only the OnePlus One and X models from the company without HD calling. There is no official word available about an update for these variants. However, all of the brand’s smartphone users can use the Jio4GVoice app, erstwhile known as JioJoin, to experience high definition calling.

Reliance Jio’s soft launch in the country brought a host of 4G devices in India. The network has actively endorsed these handsets and is handing out SIM offers at the time of their sale. OnePlus is the latest brand to join the bandwagon of VoLTE-enabled gadgets in the country.

The OnePlus 2 was launched last year in the country and it received a major update that gave it Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in January. Other features of the phone include a fingerprint sensor, Dirac HD Sound technology and the OxygenOS 3.0.2.
