One billion page views on Opera Mini

Opera LogoAround June 2008, Opera Mini users were reported to have accessed 100 million pages per day. However, according to Opera two years later handset owners viewed over a billion pages on July 25, 2010. It seems that by touching this benchmark the company has entered in to the arena of companies boasting of a wide fan base.

“Each day is different in the fast-growing mobile Web. Every day more people around the world choose Opera Mini and view more pages through this browser,” asserted Jon von Tetzchner, co-founder, Opera Software. “Crossing one billion pages views in a day is further proof that people desire the best Internet experience, no matter where they live or what device they use.”

The company states that Opera Mini servers compress over 11,500 pages prior to sending the content to users. It is said to compress the data by almost 90 percent before it sends it to the handset. Through this technology it endows mobile owners with improved speed, faster page loading and lower browsing costs.

Mobile internet aficionados can visit m.opera.com with their handsets after which Opera immediately decides on the best suited version for the device.
