Nokia X makes its debut in Kenya for 12,499 shillings

After arriving in India, the Nokia X has set foot in Kenya with a view to attract customers with its Android-based OS and those interested in getting a hold of this device will have to wait until March 20, because that has been decided as the release date. The affordable phone that costs Rs 8,599 in India, has been priced at 12,499 shillings in the country in question.

The Nokia X runs a highly customized version of the Android OS and is devoid of all Google mobile services. Instead, the Microsoft-owned company has loaded services like Skype, Outlook.com, OneDrive and more in the gadget. But it is compatible with Android applications and even comes pre-loaded with some third-party apps and games.

Let’s take a quick look at the specifications of the device. It makes the most of the Nokia X Software platform 1.0 and employs a 4-inch touchscreen of 800 x 480p resolution. A 3MP camera has also been fitted on the rear panel. The dual SIM phone brings 4GB internal memory which is expandable by up to 32GB.

A 1GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor powers the device from within and it takes assistance from 512MB of RAM. And as a 1500mAh battery has been tossed in, you can expect talk time of about 13.3 hours in the 2G mode. Common connectivity options also tag along with the handset.

The Nokia X will be available in Kenya from March 20 for the aforementioned price in shades of green, cyan, red, white and black.
