Nokia X India Launch set for March 10

The Nokia X series is headed to India and it will be unveiled next week, on March 10. The company has started sending out invites to an event that takes place in Mumbai inviting the media to ‘Xperience a new beginning.’

Now, the invite makes no mention of the Nokia X, but the tag line and the accompanying green image makes it obvious that the company plans to launch its latest Android smartphones. The smallest version in the series was recently spotted on an online retailer where a price was also provided, but has been pulled. The handset carried a retail tag of Rs 8,500 and a release date of March 15. An eBay listing also suggests the same, but has priced the phone at Rs 11,590.

The Nokia X series comprises of three handsets, the X, X+ and XL, each carrying slightly modified specifications. The company plans to offer these handsets in dual SIM models to cater to the vast affordable multi-SIM market in India. All phones run a forked version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat pulled directly from AOSP and they swap out Google services for Microsoft ones.

It isn’t clear whether the company plans to launch all three smartphones in the Nokia X series, but we’ll find out for sure this Monday.
