Nokia Siemens Networks intros high performance site solution

Nokia Siemens Networks Logo To boost the 2G, 3G and LTE network coverage and capacity, Nokia Siemens Networks recently introduced high performance site solution. With this initiative, operators will be able to cost-effectively and rapidly modernize and expand their mobile networks.

The primary factor with this innovative solution is its ability to reasonably enable a 6-sector site as an alternative of the conventional 3-sector site. With this, the capacity to handle data and voice calls is increased up to 80 percent per base station.

This solution offers significant savings by raising the base station capacity by 80 percent and coverage area by up to 40 percent. It comprises of a combination of the market-leading, compact Flexi Multiradio Base Station, dual beam antennas, and a ‘feederless’ site model with the base station located next to the antennas. This facilitates a lean site and reduces site and equipment costs.

“The compact Nokia Siemens Networks High-Performance Site Solution brings much-needed extra capacity in the booming mobile broadband market without the need for additional antennas or physical space. The small all-in-one solution can be easily installed in any location at lower implementation costs and enables operators to cost-effectively expand in markets where traditional sites are not feasible,” quoted Tommi Uitto, head of Wireless Access product management, Nokia Siemens Networks.

Moreover, with 40 percent increase in coverage per base station indicates that fewer sites will be required to introduce mobile broadband to new areas. The High-Performance Site Solution is LTE-ready and needs a simple software upgrade when deployed in HSPA networks. Further, it is apt for the renovation of GSM/EDGE networks.

Presently, the high-performance site solution is available for WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+ and Internet-HSPA.
