Nokia releasing affordable dual SIM Lumia 630 in India next month

Microsoft’s open show of interest in India continues with its decision to launch the Nokia Lumia 630 dual SIM phone here in May, next month. The company will also be releasing it in other parts of Asia, China, Europe and Russia during the same time frame. The US will welcome the device (presumably, the single SIM variant) only after that, in July.

The price of this Nokia Lumia dual SIM smartphone is quoted at $169, which would translate to a little over Rs 10,000. But after all the taxes and what not, we expect it will cost at least Rs 2,000 – Rs 3,000 more in India. The device runs on Windows Phone 8.1, unlike the recently released X series of handsets.

Not impressed by some features:

The Lumia phone has a 4.5-inch touchscreen of only 854 x 480p resolution. It has just 512MB of RAM, though its memory expandability does stand out owing to support for a microSD card of up to 128GB. A quad core Snapdragon processor powers the gadget and there’s a 5MP camera with a disappointing lack of a flash unit on the back panel.

Nokia Lumia 630 dual SIM specifications at a run:

– Windows Phone 8.1 OS
– 4.5-inch 854 x 480p Gorilla Glass 3 display
– Quad core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor
– 512MB RAM, 8GB onboard memory
– 128GB microSD card support, 7GB cloud storage
– 5MP camera with auto focus
– Dual SIM slots
– 1830mAh battery
– 13 hours 3G or 16 hours 2G talk time

There’s no concrete word on the price of the Nokia dual SIM Lumia 630 for India as yet. But we’ll keep you updated with the details as they arrive.
