Nokia has finally announced the availability of its most awaited handset called the Nokia N97 Mini. Apart from this, the company has also announced the availability of the software update 2.0 for the original Nokia N97. This update claims to deliver a new user experience via its enhanced functionalities.

The Nokia N97 Mini will finally hit the stores this week. Flaunting stainless steel cues, the Mini has been carved for the style-conscious, social butterflies. The tilting 3.2-inch touch display, QWERTY keyboard and fully customizable homescreen enhance the appeal of this handset. The Mini will be offered with the software 2.0.

“In September, 2009, we exceeded 2 million Nokia N97 devices sold, and now introduce the Nokia N97 mini, underscoring the success of the design. We have also listened to consumer feedback about the performance of the device. The Nokia N97 software update 2.0 is a way for us to optimize the device and add new features and functions,” said Jose-Luis Martinez, Vice President, Nokia Nseries. “We are also excited about the early feedback that we have received on the Nokia N97 mini, which carries a very similar feature set to the original Nokia N97 and comes in a pocket-friendly size for those out and about.”

The 2.0 software update adds a flip scrolling feature to the user interface. This feature allows users to easily scroll through the saved data. The update also brings with it a host of shortcuts to personalized homescreen, Ovi Maps 3.1 with 3-D maps, Nokia e-mail, Ovi Contacts as well as access to the Ovi Store.

The Nokia N97 Mini will retail for around €450 when it hits the market. The Nokia N97 software update is currently available via the Nokia Software Update website. This update will soon be made available by a wide range of country and operator versions over the coming weeks.
