No Nokia isn’t ignoring its S40 phones even if it has just launched it’s attention-grabbing MeeGo-based N9 and other Anna handsets. Nokia Maps has been released for new S40 phones. The maps will come standard on the Nokia C2-03 and its variants.

The S40 maps utilize cell towers to triangulate the user’s position, instead of using any kind of GPS device. It offers visual directions with smart pedestrian routing and allows users to plan their routes appropriately.

All these tasks can be performed entirely offline. Online tasks include finding self location or advanced search, which is done with the data usage of less than 10KB. Users can share their location with friends through SMSs.

Nokia C2-03 users can avail map data for their region without the need to download any additional data for the phone. According to Nokia Conversations, users can load additional maps in the memory card.
