Nokia HumanForm phone brings in another bendy, natural concept

Nokia HumanForm

A look at the bendy Nokia HumanForm concept phone and it feels like the Finnish giant could regain a top position among other phone manufacturers if it decides to continue in this direction. Currently in the developmental stage, this is the second flexible phone idea tied to Nokia in recent times and it follows the Kinetic phone.

The Kinetic sports a form factor to resemble a regular handset, but the design of the interface allows users to bend, flex, or even squeeze the handset. On the other hand, the Nokia HumanForm has an unusually sculpted body and a more natural-looking interface.

With an oval body which noticeably tapers more towards one end than the other, the entire device shows off a transparent display. This one also bends, twists, flexes, and more. Designers Tapanu Jokinen and Jarrko Saunamaki are calling this a humanized phone, which is all set to offer nanotechnology enabled experiences.

Nokia HumanForm Phone

The Nokia HumanForm being a concept one need not necessarily mean that it compromises on the usual features of a mobile phone. A sneak peek of the device also gives out a camera, probably even two, including a primary one with a Carl Zeiss lens. It is also equipped with social networking features, with a flow of websites accessible directly on the screen.

The handset moves ahead of touchscreens by introducing a completely touch sensitive case. Browsing through files and folders can be controlled by twisting a side of the gadget back and forth, while zooming in or out can be controlled by natural actions like bending it back and forth.

When Nokia gave us the first glimpse of the Kinetic at the Nokia World 2011 in London, it was suggested that the device would be ready for markets in three more years. Based on that, we sense that even if there is a fair chance, it should still be a long time before we will be able to really feel the Nokia HumanForm in our hands.
