Nokia has decided to make the Asha SDK version 1.0 available to developers so they can design Java-based applications for the company’s all new Asha 501. Nokia seems to have taken this step after witnessing a steep increase in the number of apps being downloaded from its marketplace in India. Only yesterday we reported that the store crossed 2 billion downloads in India.
The full version of the SDK has been bestowed with some fresh features which are inclusive of a language pack as well as the Tantalum Library. This language pack should help developers test their applications in as many as 47 different languages such as Chinese, English, Russian, Spanish, Arabic and Hindi amongst others.
And as far as the aforementioned Library is concerned, it is a set of tools that facilitates the process of designing responsive interfaces as well as cross-platform background engines. The SDK tags along the new versions of LWUIT and Here Maps APIs, in addition to multiple minor improvements to make it even more reliable and usable.
Also, the Finland-based OEM has revealed that the Nokia Asha 501 can now be found on the Remote Device Access (RDA) service. So coders can create their applications and test it right away on the phone itself over the web. Apart from the handset’s vanilla version, they will find models meant for countries like Russia, India, Portugal and Indonesia amongst others. Through RDA, it is possible to run an application on the phone through an internet and ensure that it is up to the mark.
