Nokia Asha 500 goes up for sale in India without an official announcement

Nokia may have revealed that the Asha 500 is slated to come to India before the end of December, but it certainly hasn’t given out an official release date. However, an online retailer hasn’t bothered to wait for it to put the device up for sale through its portal. The gadget which is termed as the Facebook phone by the Finnish OEM will set you back by a price that is under Rs 4,650.

In case you want to pick up the Nokia Asha 500 in vibrant shades like cyan, green, red or yellow, you will have to wait for a few more days as Infibeam is currently selling it in only black and white. As you may already know, you can use the phone for accessing the internet on 2G network speeds.

And if that’s not enough, there’s Wi-Fi for faster web browsing and built-in Bluetooth for transferring data to and from compatible devices. A QVGA LCD transflective touchscreen of 2.8 inches diagonally rests on the front panel of the Asha phone, whereas the rear side plays host to a 2MP fixed focus webcam. You can even use it for video recording purposes.

For refresher’s sake, the Nokia Asha 500 is available through Infibeam at Rs 4,649. The Asha 502 is already up for sale in India and the 503 will arrive next month.
