Nokia announces Nokia Play 2010, a global music partnership

Nokia in collaboration with the Island Def Jam Music Group (IDJMG) and Universal Music Group International (UMGI) launches a cutting-edge new global music partnership called Nokia Play 2010. The launch of this partnership is said to coincide with the worldwide availability of the Nokia X6, offering rich entertainment with its ‘Comes With Music’ feature.

This partnership is created to offer rich and exclusive music content to listeners all over the world. IDJMG and UMGI along with Nokia will launch international superstar Rihanna’s new album, Rated R, through an exclusive live, streamed concert and multiple listening parties in several locations worldwide on November 16.

Live from London, sensational superstar Rihanna will perform a few songs from her new album for the first time. With this show, Nokia and IDJMG will also exhibit their abilities to draw fans closer to artists and vice versa. IDJMG, UMGI and Nokia will utilize the advanced technology solutions to advertise and broadcast this event through Nokia mobile music, video and communications services. At this event some selected bloggers will record, broadcast and share elements of the live concert with fans all across the globe through Web-based social computing technologies.

Fans can participate in the event from Nokia Music Stores for free. Further, Nokia Comes With Music users, as a part of their subscription can download an exclusive version of Rated R along with a bonus track, remix as well as other additional content without any charge. Nokia will release an exclusive Rihanna app and footage from her London gig available at Ovi Store. Furthermore, the company will also launch an exclusive window to a track, ‘Wait Your Turn’ from the album before its release, in select territories.
