Nokia 106 and 107 remind us about the existence of feature phones

Two feature phones dubbed Nokia 106 and 107 have been introduced by the Finnish giant, and as they have already landed on the company’s India website, they can be expected to hit markets here soon. These will first be launched in China this September, and while the 106 is set to retail at $23, the 107 will have its price set at $25. Battery performance is indeed one of the strong points of these handsets, and most of their main features are similar.

The big difference between the two however, is that the Nokia 106 contains just one mirco SIM card slot, whereas the 107 offers the benefits of two. Both devices each kick in 1.8-inch TFT displays that are able to garner a QVGA resolution of merely 160 x 128 pixels. As can be seen in the image, alphanumeric keypads make their way onto the handsets, apart from Nokia’s S30 OS.

Nokia 106 and 107

The Nokia 106 comes equipped with an 800mAh battery which is claimed to possesses standby time of about 35 days and talktime of about 9.9 hours over 2G. Measuring in at about 112.9mm x 47.5mm x 14.9mm, it tips the scales at 74.2 grams. The 106 does not feature a microSD card slot, and its internal memory hasn’t been mentioned by Nokia as yet.

On the other hand, the Nokia 107 does embrace a microSD card slot with a maximum capacity of 16GB. This phone bears a larger 1,020mAh battery, offering dual SIM standby time of 24 days and talktime of up to 12.7 hours over 2G. The previous phone from this series was released back in April this year in the form of the Nokia 105. On the Lumia side of things, among its long list of smartphones, we are very likely to see a phablet being unveiled this year if leaks are to be believed.
