All the older versions were only unveiled for Windows Mobile smartphones complete with touchscreens whereas this latest version is unfurled for Windows Mobile, Android and Symbian. The company can further stretch its boundaries and spread to other mobile platforms with the aid of the new portable SPB UI Engine.
The main updates comprise of a new 3D engine which extends support for new types of eye candy effects like 3D Photo Viewer, dynamic 3D widgets, 3D Media Player and much more. It also includes an enhanced social networking integration which allows contacts, status, message and photo sync with popular services such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. The Natural Interaction Engine is also offered by the SPB Mobile Shell 5.0 upgrade. This includes support for multitouch and G-sensor, a dedicated Feedback Engine as well as a Physics Engine which is associated with the real-world behavior seen in all objects.
