New anatomy education apps come to Apple App Store

Modality Clementes Anatomy iPhone App Modality and Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) enhance medical science learning as they release three new anatomy education applications called the Clemente’s Anatomy, the Rohen’s Photographic Anatomy, and the Moore’s Clinical Anatomy.

These applications come with additional content customization and learning assessment features and are based on highly-valued print flash card products. The new apps offer several new features designed to offer a unique learning experience.

“Human anatomy is the foundation of the health sciences, and these image sets have helped tens of thousands of students grow into successful practitioners,” said Diane M. Harnish, Vice President and Publisher, Medicine, LWW. “Delivering this trusted content on iPhone and iPod touch engages users in a new way of learning, which will ultimately result in more highly trained professionals and better patient care.”

Students can navigate through various annotated images as these applications provide an intuitive multi-touch interface. Users can perform custom pinpointing and structure labeling. Students can also test their skills with the Quiz Mode.

“Every Modality app is designed exclusively for iPhone and iPod touch to allow students to connect with the material in a meaningful way,” according to Nate O’Keefe, director of publishing for Modality. “These apps provide hundreds of annotated anatomical photographs and illustrations in brilliant detail. What’s more, users can expand the content with our custom annotation tools, allowing for the creation of new pin sets to mark additional structures. Students can quickly create valuable supplemental resources for lab or course curriculum, and utilize the rapid access to medical imagery for patient education opportunities.”

The new education applications also provide bookmarking facility that allows users to mark selected images in clinical settings or course review sessions. Users can also locate any structure in the complete application, thanks to its comprehensive index. With the Study Mode, users can browse through images and annotations efficiently. Further, these applications also allow easy access to additional information on Google or Wikipedia.

The Clemente’s Anatomy, the Rohen’s Photographic Anatomy, and the Moore’s Clinical Anatomy applications are available at the Apple App Store for $24.99 each.
