Apparently, Netflix is going to provide the Watch Instantly video-streaming feature on Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch as well as the Nintendo Wii gaming console according to Gizmodo. This news is not confirmed by Netflix which said it declines to comment on rumors and speculation. The news was leaked by an industry executive familiar with Netflix’s plans.
Previously, there were rumors of Netflix for Wii but the one for the iPhone is new. Several iPhone apps that let Netflix customers manage their movie queues and search movies already exist. Now, users can actually view these movies on an iPhone and iPod Touch.
Like the Slingplayer Mobile for the iPhone, this streaming-video feature is not likely to be available on AT&T’s 3G network. It will probably be limited to access over local WiFi connections only.
Netflix allows subscribers to access 12,000-plus TV shows and movies on a range of devices.
