The developers over at Netflix have finally diverted some of their attention towards iOS 5 tablets, evident from the optimized version of the app released for iPad slates operating on the latest mobile platform by Apple. Apart from this, the new version 2.0 of the Netflix app also introduces support for Latin America, among other new extensions.

During mid November, the company had first brought forth the tablet compatible version of its application for devices running on the Honeycomb OS from Android. The iOS 5 iPad development closely follows this venture. The app comes as a part of the Netflix unlimited membership. But for users who are not members, it can be accessed by enabling a free trial as well.

“The new app is really a big step forward; it is much more immersive and provides greater focus on our growing catalogue by displaying twice as many titles than the previous interface. In addition, through optimization for touch-enabled tablets, Netflix members can now swipe through rows and rows of titles featuring larger artwork,” posted Zal Bilimoria, Product Manager, on the official Netflix blog.

The services now made available in Latin America include support for the iPhone, iPod touch, as well as the iPad. In addition to this, owners of HDTVs incorporated with Apple TV devices can also enjoy unlimited movies and television shows through this application. Also, the Just for Kids service targeted at the age group 12 and below, is being rolled out on the Apple TV.
