My Phone beta

Mobile phone users may no longer need to worry about losing important data as Microsoft announces its My Phone service now as an open beta. This service will enable users to automatically backup phone information to a password protected website by Microsoft.

If there is a loss or up gradation of the phone, My Phone can update and effortlessly restore the data. Phones with Windows Mobile 6.0 or 6.1 are supported by this service. My Phone lets photos and videos from the handsets to be directly uploaded to the Web-based service.

By using the automatic synchronize option manually or by waiting for the next automatic synchronization, all updated data will be restored to the new phone from the web account. In this way all data from the old phone is still available to users in their new phone.

It allows users to access the web while also being able to manage content on the phone. Apart from giving out a vast storage space to the data, the service allows users to share data with others. Besides, the Microsoft My Phone service is now also available in 25 Windows Mobile languages.

Users with a Windows Live ID can sign up for My Phone on the company’s official website. Customers can sign in and get an option ‘Send to Phone’ or they can navigate to the install section on the Microsoft website through the phone’s browser. This will let them instantly download and install the application.
