MTS drops mobile Internet rates by 33 percent for festive season

In an pleasing turn of events, SSTL’s MTS has slashed its mobile Internet rates by almost 33 percent in India. This news comes amidst reports about major players like Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone hiking their 2G and 3G data tariff plans by huge margins.

Not only that, MTS has also reduced the cost of its MBlaze Ultra Wi-Fi dongle for new postpaid users from Rs 1499 to Rs 999. Fresh customers will now have to shell out Rs 1749 instead of the previous price of Rs 2299, for the device loaded with 10GB of free mobile broadband.

The speed of the company’s wireless Internet service in India maxes out at 9.8Mbps and you get the option to carry forward unused data to the following month as long as you’re willing to recharge with a preset minimum amount. New plans have also been rolled out as part of MTS’ festival season deals.

Although the revised mobile Internet rates are being termed as ‘festive season offers,’ they will stand for three months at least before the network operator reassesses its mobile Internet price changes. On the other hand, an older MTS postpaid plan delivering 40GB data at Rs 999 now allows only 20GB of the same.
