Motorola X specs creep out, November release date on the cards

Several Motorola X specs have managed to break cover and along with these we’ve also been offered a release date of November 2013 to chew upon. Just last week, there were rumors that the moniker wasn’t just referring to one device, but rather a series of handsets.

But if the latest unofficial news on this front is to be believed, then the whole thing just gets even more confusing than before. So to straighten things up, let’s start with the fact that the company’s adviser, Guy Kawasaki, put up a YouTube video of the Porsche Exclusive and asked how cool it would be to customize a smartphone.

Guy Kawasaki's Google Plus+ Post

This post which was planted on Kawasaki’s Google+ profile sparked off speculations that Motorola was planning to launch a handset buyers could choose to customize. We’re talking about the sort of personalization that PC customers enjoy. It was whispered that users might be able to pick the amount of RAM, onboard storage and other features of the gadget they wish to purchase.

Sounds too good to be true? That’s entire plausible. Phone Arena has a cited a tipster while bringing out the specifications of ‘device X’ and saying that there’s no mention of any type of customizable smartphone. A screen of 4.8 inches and carved out of sapphire is expected to be pasted onto the front panel. For those who’re thinking ‘What, no Gorilla Glass?’ the sapphire display material is touted to be thrice as tough as Corning’s.

A 2GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor might power all the operations of the device which will embed a 4,000mAh battery. The back panel is anticipated to be built out of carbon fiber and the corners could sport rubber bumpers to minimize the impact of drops. Having seen a lot of rugged offerings from the manufacturer, we’re not surprised to hear that the phone could be resistant to water too.

Maybe Kawasaki was just messing with our heads on his G+ profile, or maybe he wasn’t. Maybe we will indeed see an entire Motorola X series, though the personalization idea is questionable. November might just be the month in which we get a proper confirmation, at any rate.
