Motorola topmost OEM in mobile sector this Q1 says comScore report

comScore Logo It’s high time for a Q1 performance report from the mobile sector – comScore has revealed data from the comScore MobiLens service that gives an idea of the key trends in the U.S. mobile phone industry up until March 2010 as compared to the preceding quarter. According to the comScore report, Motorola, Samsung and LG have emerged as the top OEMs in the U.S. mobile phone industry, while Verizon shone brightest among mobile operators in the quarter ending on March 2010.

It was a close run between Motorola, Samsung and LG who achieved 21.9%, 21.9% and 21.8% in the share of mobile subscribers, correspondingly in the quarter ending on March 2010. Among mobile operators, Verizon, AT&T and Sprint achieved mobile subscriber shares of 31.1%, 25.2% and 12%, respectively. 63.7%, 21.8% and 18.7% of mobile subscribers sent text messages, played games and accessed SNS, correspondingly during this period.

The OEMs and mobile operators were ranked based on their share of usage by existing mobile subscribers aged thirteen and older. The most trendy activities and content accessed through the user’ primary mobile phone were also reviewed as part of this report. In the first quarter, 234 million Americans aged thirteen and above were found to be mobile subscribers.
