Motorola Moto G (3rd Gen) starts receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow in India

The Motorola Moto G (3rd Gen) is now getting the upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow according to the brand’s India Twitter handle. However, there’s no specific date given for the release of the update in the announcement. The handset maker will likely push out the OS gradually over the coming days.

Users of the Motorola Moto G (3rd Gen) can manually check for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade by heading over to Settings, tapping on About Phone and finally choosing System Update. The handset is the latest offering by the company to get the software. The Moto X Style began receiving it back in November 2015, while the Moto X (2nd Gen) got it in December.

The former’s functions can be performed by the Do Not Disturb option under the Sound and Notification settings. Android Marshmallow packs enhanced back-up support for user data, making the latter irrelevant. The brand is also eliminating the Google Chrome extension in Motorola Connect. It feels the service has run its course as many apps within the Play store perform a similar function.
