Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) starts getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow

The Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) has started receiving the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in India according to a new report. The upgrade is apparently rolling out slowly over-the-air (OTA) and weighs 454MB.

To recall, the Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) was at the center of a big controversy last year when the company had not included the handset in the list of devices set to get the promotion to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The brand then changed its mind two months later in December and announced that the smartphone would be getting the new OS after all.

At the time, Motorola had said it was planning to beam out Android Marshmallow for the Moto E (2nd Gen) to select regions consisting of Europe, Latin America, Canada and Asia (except for China). Keep in mind only the 4G-ready version of the phone will get a hold the software and not the 3G one.

As per the screenshots seen on Android Police, users of the Moto E (2nd Gen) will also be getting the February Android security patch in the upgrade. Consumers can check if they’ve received the OS by heading to Settings, followed by About Phone and finally System Update. The company also advises consumers to download it over Wi-Fi because of the large size of the software.
