mobiPoke Application for iPhone users

mobiPoke app iPhoneFans of social networking can now add more to their excitement as Halcyon Mobile recently launched mobiPoke, the poke application for iPhone users. Yes, the popular Facebook poke feature has now been brought to the iPhone.

With this new advancement mobiPoke extends the iPhone with mobile action based messaging, an innovative messaging type. This facility in the iPhone allows users to send and receive mPokes to friends, family or simply to each other.

“mobiPoke extends the iPhone with a new and different type of mobile messaging,” stated Levente Szabo, co-founder of Halcyon Mobile. “They won’t have to write any text, instead just select a predefined globally understandable message, so it could be used as the quickest and simplest form of messaging available on a mobile device. There are times when you just want to check what you’re friends are doing, or give them a quick feedback. This is the ideal use case for an mPoke: just choose an actions and send it. Quick, fun and effective.”

The Mobipoke application is designed to function as a conversation starter and can also be used as an independent messaging system on its own for longer and elaborated mPoke conversations. Later it can be intensified into higher and more altered communication levels like an SMS, instant messaging or phone call. Complex mPoke dialogues are also possible with the help of 15 different categories and more than 200 actions in the Pro version. The application also offers a facility which allows these dialogues to be quickly viewed in the mPoke history.

The mobiPoke application appears to be a distinct blend of Facebook poke and Push Twitter and the iPhone. An attractive feature offered by the application is that the users can add, edit or change a status message with a maximum length of 140 characters to each mPoke. In a way, this feature gives reflection of a push Twitter feature where users are allowed to send their status to whosoever they choose to, instead of other people pulling their status.

As of now iPhone users are enabled to send and receive mPokes, but anyone with an email address can receive or send mPokes. This is mainly because the mPoke application uses email as the fundamental messaging platform.

MobiPoke’s strict syncretism with social media sites permits users to automatically post their messages or mPokes to other famous social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. This allows users to share their information and mPoke not only with their intended receivers, but with every follower or friend on Facebook.

MobiPoke application for iPhone users is available in two versions in the AppStore namely a Lite version which is a free ad supported version of mPoke and a Pro version which contains more than 200 actions compared to the Lite version which merely has 50 actions. The application is otherwise available at a price of $2.99.
