Mobile Education initiative launched by Tata Indicom in India

Mobile Education By Tata Indicom Tata Tele Services (TCS) together with SNDT Women’s University, Atom Tech (Any transaction on mobile), and Indian PCO Teleservices have teamed up to spread education through mobile (M-Education) for communities particularly belonging to rural areas and physically challenged.

Tata Teleservices will be offering Mobile Education for rural communities and physically challenged people. Under this model the mobile phone will be used as a device which will allow the users to access to voice and text messaging and educational content and will also take mock tests on the move no matter where the person is.

Commenting on the initiative C N Nagakumar, CHRO, Tata Teleservices, remarked, “We embarked upon the journey couple of months ago for the larger education of our population.”

“The twin objectives we could achieve with this service are a paradigm shift from the paper format to mobile format and impact both women and education,” added Nagakumar.

Initially this M-Education service is made available in two languages Hindi and English. There are plans to make this service available in other regional languages later.
