Microsoft Windows Phone Dev Center replaces App Hub

Windows Phone Dev Center

The recently unveiled Microsoft Windows Phone Dev Center has shown the existing App Hub the door. This new avenue will serve as an online room for creating, publishing and managing applications for Windows Phone devices.

This website is expected to offer a more streamlined experience as compared to the earlier hub. Developers will now have new options for receiving their payments including PayPal and in-app purchasing. They have the opportunity to expand their apps’ reach across many markets worldwide.

“The site, an evolution of our retired App Hub developer portal, is designed to provide everything you need to build, publish, and manage apps for Windows Phones around the world. The result of months of careful planning and attention to your feedback, it has new features to help make Windows Phone app development faster and more profitable,” cites Ash Wahi, program manager, via a post on the official Windows Phone Developer blog.

Microsoft New Dev Website

One key attribute of the Dev Center is beta testing. Following developers’ dissatisfaction with the 100-tester limit seen in App Hub, this new website extends support to many beta testers. Besides, the account sign-up and submission procedures have been fine-tuned. It is also integrated with pubCenter for displaying advertisements as part of applications.

An added advantage will be that developers can keep check on their app performance and monthly payouts with the help of new tools like My Money report. To assist them with their application development, vital educational resources such as MSDN are ready at hand.

The Microsoft Windows Phone Dev Center can be accessed for Windows Phone 7.5 or earlier applications.
