Microsoft Surface Pro 4 India launch set for first week of January

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is arriving in India in the first week of January according to a new report. The tablet series will be making its debut in the country, as the range hasn’t been released here before.

The tech giant’s CEO Satya Nadella had earlier confirmed the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 would be launching in India by January 2016, but did not give a specific date for its announcement. Bhaskar Pramanik, the company’s India Chairman has now stated that the device will be making an appearance in the nation within the first week of the New Year.

While he didn’t give an exact day for the unveiling, Gadgets 360 claims the Surface Pro 4 will most likely arrive on the scene on January 7 at an event in New Delhi. To recall, the gadget was launched globally back in October 2015. The manufacturer positioned it as a worthy competitor to the MacBook, asserting the tablet was 50% faster than the Apple offering.

Microsoft also declared the unit to be 30% faster than its predecessor. The brand has been mum so far with regards to the cost of the product. In the US, the device starts at $899 (roughly Rs 59360) for the basic model. The price escalates according to the configuration chosen, with the most premium options being 16GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7 processor and 1TB of SSD memory.
