The Yu YuPix portable printer has been launched and is currently on sale exclusively via Amazon India for Rs 6999. It’s the first time the company has ventured outside of manufacturing affordable smartphones and fitness bands.
The brand claims the device can print a photo within 60 seconds. They’ve equipped the Yu YuPix with Wi-Fi, NFC and Wi-Fi Direct connectivity to make its image transfer speed 10 times faster than Bluetooth. The pictures produced have an image quality score of 175 and measure 2.1 x 3.4 inches in terms of dimensions.
The Yu pocket-sized printer possesses a unique cartridge which the Micromax-owned company asserts does not require cleaning. It holds 20 photo papers and an ink ribbon in one unit. The device supports 16.7 million colors and uses Dye Sublimation technology to issue images with a resolution of 291ppi. It’s also waterproof and fingerprint resistant.

The gadget is compatible with both Android and iOS platforms. A YuPix companion app has been announced for the former. People can use it to wirelessly print and edit images in a resolution of 1920 x 1080p (2.5Mpx). The tool allows for the adjusting of saturation, brightness, sharpness and contrast. It further comes with the ability to add filters and templates.
The Yu device measures 2.99 x 6.01 x 0.94 inches and weighs 273 grams. It packs a 750mAh rechargeable battery and can print a maximum of 10 copies in one go. The compact printer could be useful in social situations like a party or wedding. It’s a throwback to old-fashioned cameras with the ability to instantly print pictures.
