The Micromax Canvas Spark is moving on from the flash sale model to an open sale today and tomorrow on Snapdeal. This signals the end of 2.5 months of registrations and frantic clicking to obtain the popular handset, during which time it sold over 500000 units and earned Rs 2.5 billion in revenue.
The company credits its young consumer base as one of the reasons for the success of the Micromax Canvas Spark. The open retailing follows in the footsteps of other manufacturer’s like Xiaomi and Yu who have also announced such vending a few months after selling phones only via flash sales.
It’s an effective marketing strategy, boosting hype around the launch and then making them available to the masses after some time. The massive sales of the Canvas Spark seem to have proven it worthy of the publicity, with a solid set of specs for a device priced at Rs 4999.
The dual-SIM Micromax smartphone has a 4.7-inch qHD (960 x 540p) screen, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It runs on Android Lollipop 5.0 and a 1.3GHz quad core MediaTek MT6582M chipset, assisted by a 2000mAh battery. In terms of memory, it has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal space.
