The second flash sale of the budget Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 commences tomorrow and today is the last day to register for the entry-level phone. Its first outing on Flipkart last week resulted in all units getting sold out in two minutes flat.
The company hasn’t revealed just how many models were sold though. They haven’t shared how many will be available in tomorrow’s sale either. Still, they disappeared pretty quickly, placing the Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 as a worthy rival to other ultra-cheap smartphones in the market. It seems to have gained the attention of consumers because of its decent set of specs at an affordable Rs 5999 price tag.
The Canvas Xpress 2 has a 5-inch IPS 720p screen encased within Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It runs on Android 4.4.2, the company promising a future update to the more recent Lollipop OS. It’s powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor that’s supported by 1GB of RAM and a 2500mAh battery. It contains 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD.
The dual-SIM Micromax device sports a 13MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing lens. Sound can be heard through its bottom-facing speakers equipped with Cirrus Logic Wolfson Stereo DAC technology. While it isn’t 4G-ready, other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and GPS.
