The Micromax Canvas Mega 2 has been unveiled in India, about 3 weeks after the handset was first announced at an event alongside the Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro. The phone is being marketed with a cricket-based theme to take advantage of IPL fever, though the phone itself has nothing to do with the tournament.
The biggest talk point when it comes to the Micromax Canvas Mega 2 is its 6-inch screen size. This effectively pushes the device into phablet territory, an area which the brand had previously said it would expand in. It’s additionally priced at Rs 7999, making it one of the cheaper giant-sized phones around in the market right now.
Unfortunately, Micromax has chosen to grant the 6-inch display a qHD resolution measuring 540 x 960p. It would have been better to grant it at least a 720p screen given the massiveness of the panel. A 3000mAh battery does the honors of powering this gargantuan device. The company promises it can last for 245 hours of standby time and 25 hours of talk time.
