Micromax Canvas LapTab dual OS tablet revealed at CES (Update)

Micromax has chosen the CES as the platform for unveiling its first dual OS gadget dubbed the Canvas LapTab which rocks the Android as well as Windows platform. Nothing has been mentioned about its availability in India, but reports suggest that it will hit store shelves sometime in the month of February. Going by the company’s record, we are not expecting the tablet to be very expensive.

The guys over at Engadget were the first few people to have spotted the device at the expo. This website has revealed most of the key specifications of the slate, but it too has no idea about the exact price or availability details. The LapTab as the name clearly suggests, is a hybrid between a laptop and a tablet and marks Micromax’s debut in the sector.

Let’s see what this hybrid dual booted gadget has in store for us. The very first thing that you will notice as soon as you set your eyes on the slate is its screen which offers a multi-touch real estate of 10.1 inches. It is said to be capable of rendering HD visuals in 1280 x 800p resolution. You can either make the most of the Jelly Bean OS or Windows 8.1.

A 1.46GHz processor powers it from within, but we are not sure how many cores it has. It is accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space is present within the device. Hopefully, its memory is expandable. And what’s more, a 2MP camera is present on the front side for web conferencing purposes and a similar snapper graces the rear panel as well.

The Micromax Canvas LapTab is slated to be up for grabs early next month.

Key specifications:

– 10.1-inch HD touchscreen
– 2MP front and rear cameras
– Jelly Bean and Windows 8.1 platforms
– 1.46GHz processor
– 2GB of RAM, 32GB onboard storage

Update: Micromax has confirmed that the Canvas LapTab will be made available in India in early February. It makes the most of the Celeron Intel N2805 processor, 4.2.2 version of Jelly Bean as well as a 7400mAh battery and lets you expand the storage by up to 64GB. Also, the device has a single 2MP webcam, it lacks a rear-facing camera.
