The Micromax Canvas 5 has been unveiled and will hit markets in India on November 4 priced at Rs 11999. The handset is set to be offered with an Airtel Double Data scheme for 3G and 4G users.
The dual-SIM Micromax Canvas 5 is a considerable improvement over its predecessor, which was launched all the way back in 2013. It now possesses a 5.2-inch IPS 1080p display with a 2.5D curved glass design and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. While the handset currently runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, the company has promised an upgrade to Marshmallow sometime in the future.
Under the hood, the Canvas 5 derives its juice from a non-removable 2900mAh battery which is supposed to deliver 10 hours of talk time and 275 hours of standby time. It’s powered by an octa-core 1.3GHz MediaTek 6753 processor paired with a Mali-T720 MP2 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The phone carries a 13MP autofocus main camera accompanied by LED flash, 5P lens and a blue optical filter.
There’s also a 5MP selfie snapper with flash on board. Micromax has additionally equipped the device with a Picture in Picture mode to click photos from the front and rear shooters simultaneously. The company has stuffed the device with 16GB of internal space. Users can expand its memory capacity up to 64GB via a microSD card slot.
