Meizu MX5 with fingerprint scanner arrives in India for Rs 19999

The Meizu MX5 has been unveiled for Indian markets and is being sold with a price tag of Rs 19999. It’s now available to buy exclusively via Snapdeal starting from August 26.

The smartphone was announced as part of the company’s official brand launch event on the same day. The Meizu MX5 was initially launched in China back in June in three storage variants of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Only the first is being sold right now, with the brand confirming the others will be released at a later date.

Along with the handset launch, Meizu discussed its after-care system in India. It revealed that since its arrival in the country back in May, it had opened 40 service centers in 20 cities and began a doorstep delivery repair initiative. It’s not a huge number by any means, but it’s still an important first step in building a loyal consumer base in the country.

Going back to the MX5, the 4G-enabled phone is encased within an all-metal body that the manufacturer boasts has undergone 12-gun 3D sand blasting and a 5 step anodizing process. One of its main highlights is its fingerprint scanner embedded within the home button. It’s been equipped with an mTouch 2.0 sensor and can withstand up to 300000 presses.

Another feature of the dual-SIM MX5 not commonly seen at the mid-range level is its octa-core 64-bit 2.2GHz MediaTek Helio X10 processor which is coupled with 3GB of RAM. Besides that, there’s a 20.7MP main camera with dual-tone LED flash and laser autofocus. It’s paired with a 5MP front lens for selfies. The device contains a 3150mAh battery outfitted with mCharge technology.

The flagship Meizu smartphone has a 5.5-inch super AMOLED 1080p screen which the brand claims can compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6. It’s apparently reached almost a 100% in the NTSC gamut. It also has a 10000:1 contrast ratio which the company says is 7 times more than the Xiaomi Mi Note.

Like we said above, the Meizu MX5 is now available via Snapdeal for Rs 19999.
