Marvell and One Laptop per Child XO 3.0 tablet to roll out at CES

XO 3.0 Tablet

Marvell and One Laptop per Child have devised a new device dubbed as the OLPC XO 3.0 tablet which should soon be on its way to classrooms across the world. This slate joins the likes of the recently introduced Classpad and the Aakash tablet that aim at aiding the student brigade as well.

The tablet stands a class apart from its counterparts in terms of design and exterior. It has been crafted for catering to students in developing and underdeveloped nations where there is a need for affordable and low power consuming devices. Unlike other slates that tout to be energy efficient, this offering seems to be eco-friendly as it possesses a different charging circuitry system. It can be directly powered through solar panels, hand cranks and other such alternative power sources.

“Marvell is committed to improving education–and the human condition-around the world through innovative technology for smartphones, tablets and a myriad of new cloud-delivered services. Partnering with One Laptop Per Child is one way we can deliver a revolution where it matters most-to benefit children in some of the poorest places on the planet. Marvell has been with One Laptop per Child from the start and we’re doing whatever it takes to help the organization realize its mission of providing meaningful educational opportunities to the 500 million school-aged children around the world,” stated, Tom Hayes, Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Marvell Semiconductor and a member of the OLPC advisory board.
