LG and Samsung racing to be first with 105-inch curved Ultra HDTVs

Rivals Samsung and LG are prepping for a CES 2014 unveiling of their 105-inch curved Ultra HDTVs. Remember the time both companies were seen jostling each other, trying to be the first to announce a bendy phone? Samsung got there before LG, but looked a little sheepish since it could offer the Galaxy Round in limited numbers only, unlike the latter.

Let’s see how it’ll stand with regards to the 105-inch curved UHD TVs both are gearing up to roll out. The global Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 will set up camp in Las Vegas, Nevada between January 7 and 10. It’s during this event that the South Korean rivals are planning to unveil their extra large TVs.

Samsung 105-inch Curved UHD TV

If you’re one of those folks who’re still stuck with a 21-inch TV, imagine a 105-inch panel. That’s almost five times bigger than your set. Samsung hasn’t revealed an official name for its 105-inch beast, but it’s got 11 million pixels amounting to 5120 x 2160p resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. The display curves inwards and is powered by Quadmatic Picture Engine.

LG 105UB9 105-inch Curved TV

The LG offering goes by the model number 105UC9 and also curves inwards from the right and left sides. Need we tell you that it boasts of 5120 x 2160p resolution and a 21:9 aspect too? And you may not have to plant yourself right in front of the screen since both TVs apparently promise good viewing from side angles too.

No word on the price tags, but we’ll just assume you have a house big enough to fit a 105-inch UHD TV comfortably into the living space if you can afford a screen that size. Because neither are going to come cheap.
