LG pops out artistic Optimus Black with Keith Haring Foundation

Optimus Black LG walked the CES 2011 ramp with the stylish Optimus Black exhibiting a 6mm form at its thinnest point. This 109gram weighing Android handset will now show its new side as LG collaborates with Keith Haring Foundation. The device will adorn artwork from the legendary American pop artist.

“Keith Haring inspired the art world with his energetic, colourful images which are recognised by millions of people around the world,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “We hope to capture some of that ‘joie de vivre’ through this partnership as it’s perfectly consistent with our ‘Life’s Good’ philosophy.”

The LG Optimus Black will be covered in two selected works of the artist which will be printed on its back covers. Earlier LG had collaborated with the foundation for its KF600 and KF700.

“The Keith Haring Foundation is pleased to be working with LG again,” said Julia Gruen, Executive Director of the Keith Haring Foundation. “The partnership with LG is an extension of Keith’s goal of extending his work to different audiences in an effort to break down the barriers that exist between the art community and everyday people.”

The smartphone features sleek and smooth lines, delivering high-quality sound with the antenna designed to negate physical interference. The integrated Nova display enables reading even in bright light conditions while it also brings in a natural web browsing condition. The intuitive user interface, 2 megapixel front facing camera and Android 2.3 upgrade capability form some of its added attributes.

In select European markets, the LG Optimus Black sporting in black, white and other color variants will be made available next month. The device will be displayed at the upcoming MWC 2011.
