A successor to the Optimus L3, L5 and L7, the LG Optimus L9 will be taking the L-series legacy forward with its global launch. Like its counterparts, the phone sticks to the L-style design philosophy and packs in a punch in its sleek chassis that measures 9.1mm.

This metallic handset adopts a square form factor and its front panel is dominated by a 4.7-inch IPS multi-touch display that claims to render detailed HD visuals. The device employs a 2,150mAh SiO+ battery, responsible for coughing up the juice for a relatively long period of time.

“The Optimus L9 is a great smartphone that appeals to every consumer. LG will continue to offer differentiated value through the Optimus L9 and strengthen our position in the smartphone market,” commented Dr. Jongseok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company.

The L9 has been loaded with some new UX features inclusive of QTranslator, My Style Keypad and QMemo. As the name suggests, QTranslator translates scanned words and sentences from 44 different languages. It takes the help of the Optical Character Recognition technology as well as an electronic dictionary or an online translation engine.

Furthermore, the aforementioned keypad alters the key formation by detecting if the user is typing with both hands or just one hand, while QMemo allows taking notes instantly without having to open a new application. The ICS-based phone is equipped with a 1GHz dual core processor and 1GB DDR2 RAM. It employs a 5MP main camera as well as a VGA front-mounted webcam.

The LG Optimus L9 price and release date have not been mentioned.
