LG Max vs Yu Yureka Plus: Battle of the mid-range smartphones

The LG Max smartphone was launched in India this week for Rs 10990 at a very bad time, considering the best and worst features it has to offer. The handset has been introduced perhaps too late into the market because we’re at a stage where the shelves are choking with various options at low prices.

We’re not saying the LG Max is an expensive phone at Rs 10990. But its specs are unimpressive compared to its current rivals. At the end of the day, customers who go ahead and buy it are paying for brand value over anything else. Starting with the processor, the device only has a quad core chip which may be of MediaTek origin.

Unlike other manufacturers who’ve been releasing mid-range options in India lately, LG didn’t bother to put 4G in the Max. There’s merely 1GB of RAM under the hood and the 5-inch touchscreen is unfortunately of 854 x 480p resolution only. At least one consolation selfie addicts will have is the front-facing camera which is of 5MP resolution.

LG Max Versus Yu Yureka Plus

The second best thing we can say the LG Max has to offer fans is the choice to purchase an affordable device from a brand they love. And that’s about it, in terms of advantages because even its appearance is not worth talking about. The handset also goes by the names Bello II and Prime II, depending on the region in which it is being released.

The LG smartphone’s biggest competitor is the new Yu Yureka Plus that has a larger 5.5-inch screen with full HD resolution, a 13MP camera on its back and 4G LTE support. On top of all these features, it boasts of a 64-bit octa core Snapdragon 615 chipset, twice the RAM at 2GB and 16GB internal memory.
