LG G4 lands in India, here’s a comparison with the G3

Yet another high end phone is here, this time in the form of the LG G4 which has been launched in India for Rs 51000. The price and specs it has to offer puts it in direct competition with other top smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Apple iPhone 6. There may be many who are wondering whether it’s worth upgrading from the LG G3; so here goes.

First off, the LG G4 has been given a premium look due to its leather finish option in additional to metallic and ceramic. It also has a slight curve that may not be prominent, but still adds to the ease of holding its largish body. The screen size hasn’t changed; buyers still get a 5.5-inch 1440 x 2560p quad HD display. At the same time, it’s an IPS Quantum display rendering 538ppi sharpness.

The improved touchscreen is said to deliver 25 percent extra brightness, 50 percent higher contrast and 20 percent better color reproduction as compared to the LG G3. The same old 3000mAh removable battery makes its way into the LG G4 along with the promise of 20 percent longer life this time owing to the hexa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor hiding under the hood of the G4.

The 13MP camera on the exiting flagship phone was already quite phenomenal to begin with. Now LG has swapped it for a 16MP one with optical image stabilization 2.0, laser auto focus, an f/1.8 lens aperture for enhanced low-light photography and manual controls. The 2.1MP front-facing snapper has been given the boot and in its place lies an 8MP wide angle lens for taking group selfies and what not.

For those who prefer their pictures to be clicked and stored without any processing effects, the LG G4’s main camera offers to let them shoot RAW images. There’s 3GB of RAM aboard as well as a microSD card slot for admitting up to 2TB of extra memory space. LG has also resisted the temptation of weighing down the user experience with bloatware. The G3 sells for about Rs 35000 at present.

LG has began taking pre-orders for the G4 on June 1. Whoever booked it before June 15 will be eligible to receive extras worth Rs 12000. The company will also be giving some fans the opportunity to meet Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan.
