LG Doubleplay coming to T-Mobile, drops Flip II moniker

What was being known as the Flip II for quite a while now is showing signs of releasing through T-Mobile as the LG Doubleplay. This device was first spotted around four months ago at an industry event in London.

Recently identified by Pocketnow in some press shots, this handset now seems all set for a release next month with T-Mobile as its network carrier. This is also backed by the leaked images of T-Mobile’s roadmap for the month of October and November.

The prime attraction of the Flip II, which hopefully will soon be known as the DoublePlay, is its dual screen. Apart from its main touchscreen, the slider handset shows off another mini square-shaped screen which divides its QWERTY keypad in two halves.

The images of this screen bring to notice a number of apps which suggest it to be inclined towards organization of apps. Apparently, LG has designed it to be more of an app tray rather than a full utility screen.

Other than this feature of the device which seems to be responsible for its unusual name as well, the phone is also expected to sport a 5MP camera with LED flash, supported by a front facing one as well. It should be 4G enabled too and has a 320 x 480p HVGA main display.

If these rumors are to be taken seriously, then the T-Mobile LG Doubleplay should hit markets by the first week of November. It is expected to fit into a price range of $150 accompanied by a user contract.
