Lenovo Zuk Z1 with Cyanogen OS unveiled at Rs 13499

The Lenovo Zuk Z1 has made its debut in India, permanently ending Yu’s reign as the only brand offering Cyanogen in the country. The manufacturer has chosen Amazon to be the smartphone’s home and plans to sell it in a flash sale on May 19 at 2pm.

The dual-SIM Lenovo Zuk Z1 offers a pretty impressive range of specs for its Rs 13499 price tag. For that much, buyers can take advantage of a fingerprint scanner, 4100mAh battery, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, there’s no microSD card slot to expand on its memory capabilities.

The headline-grabbing feature of the Zuk Z1 is the fact that it runs on Cyanogen 12.1 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The open source OS offers a number of customization options to control aspects of the phone like themes and audio controls. The former lets users modify anything ranging from icons to boot animations.

There’s also a useful PIN scramble feature for the security-conscious. The tool randomizes the order keyboard numbers appear in so that a consumer’s fingerprints doesn’t give away their password. Lenovo further promises there isn’t any bloatware pre-installed in the device; a change of pace from other phones filled to the brim with pointless apps.

Here’s a neat summary of the main specs of the Lenovo Zuk Z1:

– OS: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12.1
– Display: 5.5-inch, 1080 x 1920 pixels
