Lenovo steps in with new group to focus on smartphone development

Lenovo Logo Stiff competition in the mobile phone terrain has stimulated manufacturers to unleash new technologies and innovative gizmos. Lenovo has announced that it is establishing a new business group dubbed Mobile Internet and Digital Home Business Group.

The company is all set to develop new services and applications. Lenovo forayed into the Chinese market with the launch of its smartphone, thereby enhancing the overall growth in the mobile phone segment.

Yang Yuanqing, chief executive officer, Lenovo commented, “Lenovo recognizes the tremendous growth potential of the mobile internet, as well as that of new categories like cloud computing and smart TV, and so we are putting the focus and investments in place to fully capitalize on these opportunities to drive growth in our business today and for many years to come”.

At the same time, we’ll use our creativity, innovation and technical prowess to help our customers navigate the future of personal technology worldwide,” added Yang Yuanqing.

In addition, Liu Jun who was the senior vice president and president of Lenovo’s Product Group will lead the new group as president. This new group is anticipated to enhance the development of a rich portfolio of internet-centric devices.
