Lava Iris Alfa L phone with 8MP camera, quad core chip announced for Rs 8000

The L in the Lava Iris Alfa L stands for Android Lollipop 5.0, the OS version powering the new Iris Alfa L smartphone that carries a price tag of Rs 8000. It’s a good thing manufacturers in India are starting to see the point of launching devices with the latest software pre-installed; because no user wants to wait uncertainly for an update.

Considering how much the Lava Iris Alfa L asks you to shell out for it, the Moto E (2nd Gen) 4G is one of its toughest rivals. The latter has got brand reputation on its side too. Apart from the Motorola phone, the Micromax Canvas Spark and the Lenovo A7000 also feature among its competitors.

The specs of the Lava Iris Alfa L aren’t as impressive as you’d want them to be. It has a largish 5.5-inch display which unfortunately delivers just 960 x 540p qHD resolution visuals. The MediaTek chipset hiding under the hood ensures that Lava can keep the cost reasonable. It happens to be a quad core one and is clocked at 1.3GHz.

There’s 1GB of RAM inside and 8GB of internal memory. The storage can be expanded up to 32GB, in case you fall short of hoarding space. The Iris Alfa L obviously embeds dual SIM slots and it also supports 3G networks. Unlike the disappointing camera on the new Moto E, an 8MP lens with LED flash can be found on this Lava handset.
