Lava Iris 356 and 402 debut in India starting at Rs 4,499

The Lava Iris 356 and 402 have been unveiled only a day after a teaser video hinted at a new line of smartphones’ imminent arrival, hailing from the company’s corresponding series. Living up to its reputation, Lava has added to the heap of affordable devices in the country as the handsets take their place with a couple of e-retailers.

First up is the Lava Iris 356 which walks a step behind the Iris 402, with relatively modest specifications. The dual SIM gadget flaunts a 3.5-inch capacitive HVGA touchscreen along with a VGA webcam, on its front panel, while its rear plays host to a 1.3MP camera. It should be noted that the device rocks Android 4.2 OS which may not be the OS’ latest version, but considering the price point, we can’t really complain, can we?

As far as the storage capacity goes, the phone puts forth merely 150MB of internal memory. But the onboard microSD card slot which facilitates expansion of up to 32GB, should offer solace. The Lava Iris 402 should please those hunting for Xolo A500S-like gadgets. A 4-inch 480 x 800p display dominates the handset’s face, leaving enough space for a VGA webcam to fit in.

A 3MP camera has been drilled onto the flipside, placed under which is a 1,500mAh battery. Both handsets gain impetus from a dual core processor ticking at a clock speed of 1.2GHz, which in turn seeks aid from 256MB of RAM.
