Lava Icon outed in India for Rs 11990

The Lava Icon has been given an official launch in India and this alone means that it isn’t just an ordinary smartphone. The device is being touted with a gorgeous design and a good roster of specs with a price tag that doesn’t hurt at all.

For Rs 11990, the Lava Icon offers a metallic looking design where the front and rear panels are highly glossy and look to be made from glass. Then there’s the golden frame in the middle which adds a premium touch to the phone’s overall form factor. The OEM has also managed to make the device quite slim at 7.7mm with its weight measured at 143 grams.

While the design is very alluring, this Lava phone’s biggest disappointment is its software. The company has preloaded it with Android 4.4 KitKat and it might take quite a bit of time for Lollipop to get released. Processing power comes from a pretty outdated chip, a 1.3GHz quad core SOC based on the Cortex A7. Memory-wise, the handset has decent offerings of 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable hording space.

The Icon device also has dual high resolution cameras where the front shooter is rated at 5MP and the rear snapper is a 13MP sensor with dual LED flash. And you can expect as much as 9 hours of battery life with the embedded 2500mAh power pack.
