The Kobo Touch price and release have just been announced for those in Japan who take to eReading. The company’s complete eReading service is expected to land in the country on July 19.

The eReader provides access to an extensive catalog of Japanese titles including business or comic books, novels, essays and more. Apart from these books, the 2.5 million titles already available in Japan will be accessible on the devices too.

Coming to its hardware angle, the slab tips the scales at merely 185 grams, enabling easy handling and usability. It sports an eInk Pearl Display that’s touted to be gentle on the eyes and withstands intense sunlight. The onboard memory is capable of housing nearly 1,000 books, while the number can be extended to a whopping 30,000 with the assistance of a SD card. In terms of connectivity, the device supports Wi-Fi to make content accessible at any given place.

The gadget is available in color choices of black, silver, lilac and blue. Besides, a range of accessories that have been tailored for the eReader include book lights, pocket sleeves and eReader covers. The device is expected to comply with the standard ePub 3.0 format that lends support to specific Japanese language styles like ruby characters and vertical text.

According to the Kobo Touch Japan price and availability details, it can now be pre-ordered for a price of ¥7,980 inclusive of taxes, through the official site. At the launch, the eReader is set to pack in Japanese content too.
